Kazakhstan will introduce innovations to recruit candidates to the "A" Corps (an elite group of officials), head of the department, Alihan Baimenov said after a meeting of the Kazakh President with 'A' Corps officials.

"We will develop candidate evaluating methods on a competency-based approach," he said. "Afterwards, together with our international partners, we want to introduce tests that determine the competence of candidates. Such work will be carried out. It is in our plans. Today, the President has focused on the fact that we must constantly improve our methods of selection, to be convinced that the most worthy candidates are chosen."

According to him, in general, the recruitment has created public confidence, especially in the final stages of testing.

"There was an interest," he said. "There was certain skepticism in the first stages. When the positions were renewed by 33 percent, public confidence was high. One must understand that we have carried out selections, without additional budget funds and without developing new evaluation mechanisms requiring huge costs as there was little time."
