Astana, Kazakhstan, Dec.19
By Daniyar Mukhtarov - Trend:
Kazakhstan as a country of the region is interested in the full normalisation of the situation over Iran related to its nuclear programme, Kazakh Foreign Minister Yerlan Idrisov said on Dec.19 at a briefing in Astana.
"As was known from the very beginning of talks on Iran's nuclear programme, we initiated ourselves as a platform for negotiations. The last round of talks were held in Geneva, but all parties and the P5+1 countries know that Kazakhstan is ready to offer itself as a platform for negotiations. Nevertheless, they make a decision and chose a place convenient for them," Idrisov said.
He recalled that a temporary agreement was reached and during the next half year, the Iranian side will hold the required procedures to ensure the agreement would come into force.
The defrosting of some sanctions imposed against Iran, as well as the fulfilment of a number of obligations by the country needs time, according to Idrisov.
"We deal with the two sides. Our main message is as follows. We as a country of the region are interested in the full normalisation of the situation over the Iranian nuclear programme.
"We speak for the removal of all issues from the agenda. Kazakhstan speaks for the full normalisation of political and economic relations between Iran and Western countries, as it will results with big dividends not only for Iran, but also for the West and our Central Asian region," the minister said.
