Kazakhstan's parliament has supported the proposal of the country's President Nursultan Nazarbayev, on dispatching officers from Kazakhstan's armed forces to UN missions, according to a message from the Senate (the parliament's higher chamber).
'On Dec. 20, a meeting of the parliament's chambers discussed the Kazakh president's proposal on dispatching officers from the country's armed forces as observers to participate in UN missions in Haiti, Western Sahara, Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast) and Liberia (five officers per mission) to fulfil international commitments supporting peace and security', according to the message.
Following voting, the Kazakh president's proposal was unanimously supported by both chambers of parliament.
