By Elena Kosolapova - Trend: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is interested in more funding of Kazakhstan, the bank's head Suma Chakrabarti said on Jan. 23 during a meeting with the Kazakh President, Kazakh presidential press-service reported.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Word Economic Forum in Davos.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the basic mechanisms that could be used by the bank to facilitate investments in Kazakhstan from abroad and within the country.
The parties discussed a number of promising projects aimed at infrastructure development, in particular, financing of the Big Almaty Ring Road construction.
Nursultan Nazarbayev noted the high level of cooperation between Kazakhstan and the EBRD and urged it to continue to support small and medium enterprises of the republic.
Chakrabarti, in turn, noted that EBRD's package of projects in Kazakhstan amounted to $450-500 million in 2013.
In particular he drew attention to the bank's active work in the field of green economy.
