Kazakh and Russian experts will discuss an environmental safety programme at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, the official representative of the Central Communication Service under the Kazakh president, Altai Abibullayev said at a briefing on March 11.
"A meeting of the Scientific and Technical Council of the Kazakh- Russian environmental safety programmes at the Baikonur Cosmodrome will be held with the participation of the Russian side on March 12-13, " he said.
Kazkosmos head Talgat Musabayev will hold the workshop on 'Space: Science and Technology' in Almaty on March 14. It will focus on a 10 year activity of the National Centre for Research and Technology in Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Kazakh First Deputy Prime Minister Bakytzhan Sagintayev stressed that work on compensation from the Proton-M rocket carrier falling is being delayed. He ordered the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources together with the state bodies as per the roadmap for Baikonur, to complete the work on time.
The Russian carrier rocket Proton-M with three satellites Glonass-M fell whilst launching at Baikonur on July 2, 2013. Kazakhstan urged Russia to pay almost $90 million as a compensation for ecology damage. Later Russia reported that Roscosmos will conduct its own expertise to evaluate the validity of the Kazakh side's calculations.
