Taking into account the international situation, Kazakhstan will intensify the diversification of transport and logistics infrastructure, Kazakh Minister of Economy and Budget Planning Yerbolat Dossayev said at a briefing in Astana on April 15.

"Taking into account the current situation (the events in Ukraine and economic sanctions by the EU and the U.S. against Russia), the measures will be taken to diversify the transport and logistics infrastructure and increase the transit potential of Kazakhstan," he added.

"The construction of three dry cargo terminals will be launched till July 1 to expand the capacity of the seaport Aktau," he said.

"The construction of a dry port will be launched in the territory of "Horgos- East Gates" free economic zone in the direction of China till July 1 with expected financing through Kazakhstan Railways' own funds amounting to 36.8 billion tenge ($ 1 - 182.02 tenge) and co-financing to the amount of 38.4 billion tenge," he said.

"The construction operations will be continued," he said. "The movement via the Zhezkazgan- Beyneu railroad line is planned to be launched on December 1, 2014.
