The consultations were held between the Kazakh and Romanian foreign ministries at the level of Kazakh Deputy Foreign Minister Alexei Volkov and State Secretary of the Romanian Foreign Ministry Bogdan Aurescu in Bucharest, the Kazakh foreign ministry reported on April 23.

A bilateral meeting was held between the head of the Kazakh delegation and Romanian Foreign Minister Titus Corlăţean as part of the visit.

The sides discussed a wide range of bilateral and multilateral cooperation issues and exchanged views on relevant issues of international and regional agenda. Particular attention was paid to the development of trade-economic, investment, cultural-humanitarian cooperation, prospects for mutually beneficial use of transit and transport potential of the two countries, as well as the expansion of the legal framework. The sides stressed the high level of cooperation in the energy sector, based on the activity of KazMunaiGas International.

The sides attach importance to the activity of the Romanian-Kazakh intergovernmental commission on trade-economic and scientific-technical cooperation.

Volkov invited Romania to actively participate in the EXPO-2017 international exhibition in Astana. He called for the joint implementation of priority investment projects in Kazakhstan as part of the accelerated industrial-innovative development program.
