French president to visit Kazakhstan in December

The President of France Francois Hollande will visit Astana, Kazakhstan in early December, the French Ambassador to Kazakhstan Francis Etienne told Trend Oct. 28.
"The French president's visit is scheduled for early December. The French leader will arrive in Astana at an invitation from Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev," Etienne said.
He said a strategic partnership agreement was signed earlier at the highest level, adding that this is the basis for meeting of the two countries' leaders.
The ambassador said that a visit is planned to the new venture near Astana, the Astana Solar LLP, during the French president's visit.
The Astana Solar LLP is producing solar panels with an assistance from the French side.
The diplomat said the French government will make a contribution worth $1 billion to the UN fund to assist in solving the problems associated with climate change.
In this regard, the development of alternative energy sources is a part of the policy pursued by France for protection of environment and climatic conditions.
"Astana will host in early December the next meeting of the Kazakh-French intergovernmental commission, which will focus on new prospects for cooperation between our countries," the Ambassador Etienne said.
Representatives of about 40 French companies will arrive in Astana in early Dec. to take part in an intergovernmental commission meeting and during President Hollande's visit, the ambassador added.
"It is planned that the upcoming meetings will focus on the development of cooperation in the processing industry, not only in mining. Besides, the emphasis will be placed on transferring technologies and knowledge," he said.
