Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev appointed Nurlan Ermekbaev to the post of Assistant to the President - Secretary of the Security Council, the presidency reported on Nov. 19.

"To dismiss the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Peoples Republic of China and at the same time Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to North Korea Nurlan Ermekbaev from these posts and appoint him as the Assistant to the President - Secretary of the Security Council of the Republic of Kazakhstan" the order says.

The Security Council was earlier headed by Kairat Kozhamzharov, who was transferred to the post of the head of the Agency for Civil Service and Countering Corruption. Adilbek Zhaksybekov and Azamat Abdymomunov served as acting secretaries of the Security Council since that time.
