Kazakhstan, Ukraine agree to mutually supply military products

Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 14

By Elena Kosolapova - Trend:

Kazakhstan and Ukraine agreed on mutual supplies of military products, said the Kazakh Defence Ministry Oct. 14.

The supplies are stipulated as part of an agreement to cooperate in the aviation sector, signed between Kazakhstan Aviation Industry LLP and the Ukrainian Special Export, a company dealing with export and import of military and special purpose products and services.

The agreement opens up new opportunities for the defense industries of the two countries, said the ministry.

Kazakhstan-Ukraine cooperation in the aviation sector will cover several areas.

In particular, it is planned to organize a service center in Astana for maintenance and repair of Antonov planes, and a regional center for repair of aircraft engines made by Motor Sich JSC.

It is also planned to replace the engines of the AN-2 planes with modified and improved ones, and to upgrade the AN-2 to AN-2-100, and to organize an industrial assembly of MC-14 turboprop engines for their installation to the modernized aircraft.

The plans, along with others, also include the joint development and production of unmanned aerial vehicles for military and civilian use, supply, repair and maintenance of aircraft simulators.
