Kazakh Energy Minister Kanat Bozumbaev has threatened to dismiss KazMunaiGaz management in case of failure to modernize the Pavlodar plant.

Bozumbaev held a working meeting Nov.1 on the modernization of the Pavlodar Petrochemical Plant (PNPP) with participation of Acting President of KazMunaiGaz JSC Daniyar Tiesov and general director of the Pavlodar plant Shukhrat Danbai, Kazakh media reports referring to the ministry Nov.2.

"The delay in the completion of the modernization and the launch of the necessary facilities for the production of high-octane gasolines and diesel fuel in the Pavlodar refinery was stressed. The date for the completion of the modernization of the Pavlodar refinery was scheduled for Oct.26, and the Atyrau oil refinery - Sept.16. However, KazMunaiGas has postponed the deadlines for the first half of December this year, " the press service said.

The minister instructed to take emergency measures to ensure the domestic market with high-octane gasoline and diesel fuel in the near future.

Following the meeting, the minister noted the need to launch a high-octane gasoline production facility before Nov.8 and start diesel fuel production in the shortest possible time. Bozumbaev promised to dismiss Tiesov and Danbai from their posts in case of failure to meet the deadlines.

The minister also instructed to send a commission of the ministry to identify possible risks of delaying the modernization of the Pavlodar and Atyrau refineries.
