Grain reserves grow in Kazakhstan

In January-May 2018, the amount of grain in Kazakhstan increased by 483,000 tons, or 8 percent as compared to the same period last year, the Kazakh media reported June 29.

In early 2018, the increase of grain stood at 1.35 million tons, or 9.1 percent. As of Jan. 1, 2017, Kazakhstan had 14.8 million tons of grain and 16.17 million tons as of Jan. 1, 2018.

In June 2017, 1 million tons of grain was used from grain reserves, 579,000 tons of which were used for sowing campaign, 163,000 tons for fodder purposes, and the remaining volumes for food processing and export, according to the Kazakh Committee of Statistics.
