The gross output of Kazakhstan’s agriculture sector increased by 5.3 percent over 11 months of 2020 to 5.9 trillion tenge ($14.04 billion), Trend reports citing Kazakhstan Agriculture Ministry.

The investments into the fixed capital of agriculture increased by 4.7 percent amounting to 454.2 billion tenge ($1.08 billion), whereas investments into the fixed capital of food items manufacturing increased by 18.6 percent to 86.5 billion tenge ($205.9 million).

The export of processed agricultural products increased by 17.3 percent from $871.5 million to $1 billion,

“Despite the difficult conditions of the current season due to the COVID-19, farmers had a generous harvest of 20.8 million tons of grain, which allows to fully meet the local needs of Kazakhstan, as well as to send certain volumes for export, while maintaining Kazakhstan's status as a grain-exporting state,” the report said.

The ministry noted that the harvested grain is of high quality. Thus, 80 percent of the harvested wheat is 1-3 grades, while in 2019 this figure was 53 percent.

Furthermore, farmers harvested 4 million tons of potatoes, 4.3 million tons of vegetables, 2.5 million tons of melons, 297,200 tons of cotton, 2.5 million tons of oilseeds were harvested this agriculture year.
