Kazakhstan prepares new package to support SMEs

The Minister of National Economy of Kazakhstan, Aset Irgaliev spoke about the developed new package of measures to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Trend reports citing the Kazakh media.

As Irgaliev noted, on the basis of a survey of more than 50,000 business entities conducted by Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs, a new package of measures to support SMEs has been prepared.

“As part of the updated Comprehensive Plan to Restore Economic Growth for 2021, more than 60 support measures are envisaged in the following areas: reducing the burden on business, including a number of tax incentives and facilitating tax administration; facilitating entrepreneurs' access to finance; access to demand markets. This area includes measures aimed at facilitating access to public procurement and procurement of the quasi-public sector, including the introduction of a mechanism to support domestic producers for minor government purchases,” Irgaliev said during a governmental meeting.

“In the new economic conditions, a new regulatory policy is being developed, aimed at creating the most favorable and stimulating conditions for the revitalization of entrepreneurial activity and attracting private capital,” the minister said.

“The ambitious goal of the Government is to enter the top 20 countries in the Doing Business ranking. To achieve these goals, a bill ‘On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of Kazakhstan on Doing Business’ is being developed. The bill covers 23 important reforms in various spheres of business activity,” added the minister.
