Kazakhstan reports multifold growth in container traffic

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 18

Trend:

Cargo transportation in transit by road on an unauthorized basis makes it possible for Kazakh road carriers to freely transit through the territory of Belarus towards the EU countries, Trend reports citing the Kazakh media.

Earlier, the Belarusian side set quotas for transit traffic on its territory. For example, if the Belarusian side issued 12,000 permits for the Kazakh side to transit through its territory, in return it received the opportunity to transport goods from other third countries to Kazakhstan.

According to Vice Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan, Dinara Shcheglova, the United Transport and Logistics Company has been created in partnership with Russia and Belarus, thanks to which the delivery time of containers from China to Europe is 12-15 days, and the volume of container traffic has grown 15 times over the past 5 years.

Moreover, an ecosystem of digital transport corridors of the EAEU is being implemented.

"The implementation of the project will provide paperless support for transport and logistics operations and a complete transition to the exchange of information. The list of priority services of the Ecosystems of Digital Transport Corridors (EDTC) includes such services as booking roadside service, electronic commodity invoices, waybills, digital database of roads, service for booking a queue for checkpoints, and others," said the vice-minister.
