Kazakhstan's Baiterek eyes building sugar plant

Chairman of Kazakhstan’s Baiterek National Managing Holding Aidar Arifkhanov shared plans for the implementation of large-scale projects in the agricultural sector, Trend reports citing Kazinform.

“The first and second stages of the Makinsk poultry farm [in Makinsk city, Akmola region], as well as the construction of the "Maslo-Del Petropavlovsk" oil press plant, were financed by the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, the rest of the projects are being implemented with the support of the Agrarian Credit Corporation," Arifkhanov said at a meeting of the Government.

According to him, a number of large projects are being worked out, including QAZSUGAR project envisaging construction of a sugar plant with a capacity of 150,000 tons of sugar per year [in Zhambyl region], the third stage of the Makinsk poultry farm with a production capacity of 30,000 tons of poultry meat at a hoof, as well as other large projects.

“Special attention is paid to projects on import substitution of products in such areas as the manufacturing of sugar, poultry, apples, dairy, and fish products. This year, the holding approved financing of five investment projects on the import substitution with a funding volume of 92 billion tenge ($210 million),” the speaker noted.

“The holding will continue to scale up the volume of support in this direction. The subsidiaries are considering 16 projects worth 21 billion tenge ($48 million),” concluded Arifkhanov.
