Gross livestock output increases in Kazakhstan

The gross output of livestock products reached 186.1 billion tenge ($365.5 million), volume index - 101.6 percent in Kazakhstan in January 2022, Trend reports with reference to www.energyprom.kz.

In the districts, the biggest production output traditionally accounted for Almaty district - 30.1 billion tenge ($59.1 million), which is by 2.6 percent more in real terms than a year earlier. The biggest production output was also observed in Turkistan and Akmola districts.

The gross output of livestock products reached 3.1 trillion tenge ($6.08 billion) from January through December 2021, which is by 3.6 percent more in real terms than a year earlier.

The number of horses in Kazakhstan increased by 11.3 percent for the year up to 3.4 million heads, poultry - by 9.2 percent up to 47.3 million heads, camels - by 7.5 percent up to 241,500 heads, sheep — by 4.5 percent up to 18.5 million heads, cattle — by 3.9 percent up to 8.3 million heads, including cows — by 5.4 percent up to 4.2 million heads by February 1, 2022.

The number of pigs decreased by 2.6 percent up to 823,300 heads, as well as goats - by 1.2 percent up to 2.3 million heads.

In general, livestock production is being developed well. Thus, the production of chicken eggs increased by 18.4 percent for the year up to 369.7 million pieces in January 2022.

Some 140,300 tons (plus 0.1 percent) of cattle and poultry in live weight were slaughtered on the farm or sold for slaughter while carcass weight reached 83,000 tons (plus 0.7 percent).

Around 259,300 tons of milk were produced, which is by 1.5 percent more than a year earlier.

The production of cowhide also increased by 0.2 percent for the year. The production of skins of small livestock decreased by 0.4 percent.

The prices for meat and poultry increased by 11.3 percent in the Kazakh shops in January 2022. Moreover, the prices for mutton increased by 15.4 percent, horse meat - 11.8 percent, pork - 10.2 percent, beef - 8.3 percent. The cost of sausage increased by 7.2 percent, semi-smoked sausage - by 9.1 percent.

The average price for beef in shops and markets of the Republic of Kazakhstan reached 2,200 tenge ($4.3) per kg, lamb – 2,400 tenge ($4.7) per kg, pork – 1,900 tenge ($3.7) per kg, horse meat – 2,600 tenge ($5.1) per kg. The average price for sausage reached 2,200 tenge ($4.3) per kg, semi-smoked sausage – 2,600 tenge ($5.1) per kg.
