BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 23. The value of the retail trade in Kazakhstan amounted to 1.6 trillion tenge (approximately $3.1 billion) over the period from January through February 2022, which is 7.5 percent less compared to the same period of 2021, Trend reports with reference to the Committee of Statistics of Kazakhstan.

According to the data, the largest percentage in the total retail trade turnover accounts for small business (29.8 percent) during the reporting month.

It is followed by individual entrepreneurs (27.7 percent) and large businesses (27.5 percent). The least amount of retail trade turnover accounts for medium businesses (15 percent).

The largest share of the retail trade accounts for Almaty city. Some 25.7 percent of the total trade turnover accounts for this city and the value of trade turnover here went down by 27.3 percent during the reporting period, compared to the same months of 2021.

The major part of the retail trade turnover accounts for Nur-Sultan city (12.2 percent; volume increased by 5 percent), Karaganda region (10.6 percent; volume increased by 0.1 percent), and East Kazakhstan region (9.8 percent; increase by 4.5 percent).
