BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 18. Annual inflation accelerated in Kazakhstan in March 2022, the head of the real sector monitoring section of the Monetary Policy Department at the country’s National Bank (NBK) Igor Osipov said, Trend reports via the NBK.

According to Osipov, in the reporting month, this figure amounted to 12 percent (compared to 8.7 percent in February), and regionally, it accelerated in all 17 regions.

The greatest acceleration was recorded in the Aktobe region (from nine percent in February to 12.9 percent in March) and Shymkent city (from 8.5 percent to 12.4 percent).

The growth rates of prices for food products in March grew to 15.4 percent (compared to 10 percent in February). The maximum growth for the products was recorded in the Aktobe region (18.5 percent).

Meanwhile, the growth rates of prices for non-food products also increased - to 10.9 percent (compared to 8.6 percent in February). The maximum growth was recorded in the Akmola region (12.4 percent), and the minimum - in the West Kazakhstan region (9.2 percent).

Prices for paid services in March increased by 8.3 percent (compared to 7.1 percent in February), while prices rose significantly above the national level in Almaty and West Kazakhstan regions (by 9.4 percent), and significantly lower - in the Aktobe region (by 5.9 percent).

Monthly inflation in the country amounted to 3.7 percent, which is higher than the average monthly inflation of March prices over the past five years (0.6 percent from 2017 through 2021).

Prices rose above their historical average level in March 2022 in all 17 regions. The greatest acceleration of monthly inflation was noted in Shymkent city (4.3 percent).
