BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 14. A total of 583.2 million passengers were transported in Kazakhstan by all means of transport in May 2022, which is 4.8 percent more than in May 2021, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

In turn, the volume of passengers transported over the period from January through May 2022 amounted to 2.7 billion people, which is 16 percent more year-on-year compared to 2.3 billion over last year.

Thus, the majority of the passengers were transported to Kazakhstan’s Almaty city. The number of passengers transported in the city amounted to 154.5 million people in May and 732.8 million people over the reporting period of 2022, which is 1.8 percent more and 12.9 percent more than during the same period last year, respectively.

Almaty city is followed by the Kostanay region with 54.2 million people transported in May 2022 (a decrease of 0.6 percent compared to May 2021). The number of passengers transported in the region during the reporting period amounted to 253.3 million people, which compared to 220.5 million during the same period last year, indicates a 14.9-percent increase.

East Kazakhstan region takes third place country-wide by the passengers transported in May 2022 (52.7 million people, up by 17.5 percent). The number of passengers transported in the region over the period from January through May 2022 amounted to 248.8 million, which is 24.3 percent more than during the same period last year (200.2 million people).

The least passenger volume was recorded in the Mangystau region. The transported passenger volume stood at 2.9 million in May 2022, which is 22.7 percent more than in May 2021.

The volume of passengers transported over five months of 2022 was 13.9 million, which is 30.4 percent more year-on-year.
