BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 22. The revenues of Kazakh railway transportation companies increased from January through April 2022, Trend reports via finprom.kz.

The revenues amounted to 400.6 billion tenge ($890 million), up by 15.3 percent on annual basis.

Most of the revenues (375.4 billion tenge or $830 million) were traditionally received through the transportation of cargo and baggage, and the remaining 25.2 billion tenge ($56 million) accounted for passenger traffic.

In the first four months of 2021, revenues in the sector amounted to 347.3 billion tenge ($770 million), up by 16.3 percent compared to 4M2020.

The railway companies transported 140.3 million tons of cargo and baggage from January through April this year, which is 4.3 percent more than in the same period of 2021.

The largest volume of cargo and baggage transportation was recorded in the Karaganda, Aktobe regions and the capital, while the smallest volume - in the West Kazakhstan region.

Passenger transportation by rail in 4M2022 amounted to 5.6 million people, 36.9 percent more than a year earlier.
