BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 14. The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia increased from January through April 2022, Trend reports via finprom.kz.

This figure reached $7.2 billion, up by six percent on annual basis.

In the structure of trade turnover, imports grew by 7.3 percent over the year, to $5.1 billion, and exports - by 2.8 percent, to $2.1 billion. The share of imports amounted to 70.8 percent of the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia, and exports - 29.2 percent.

Russia’s share in the structure of the trade turnover of Kazakhstan made up18.1 percent, export - 7.9 percent, and imports - 38.5 percent.

The highest value of imports to Kazakhstan from Russia fell on machinery, equipment, vehicles, instruments and apparatus. Such goods were imported for $1.1 billion in the first four months of this year, which is 16 percent less than a year earlier. The second and third positions were taken by metals and metal products ($913.1 million), as well as animal and vegetable products and prepared food products ($910.5 million).

Among the goods exported from Kazakhstan to Russia, the highest value fell on mineral products with $700.6 million, down by 10.7 percent in annual terms, followed by metals and metal products ($668.8 million), as well as chemical products, including rubbers and plastics ($404.4 million).

As of January 1, 2022, the obligations of residents of Kazakhstan to Russian investors reached $19.2 billion, which is 57 percent more than a year ago.

The majority of investments by Russian companies fell on financial and insurance activities, manufacturing, as well as wholesale and retail trade and auto repair.

The gross inflow of direct Russian investments in the first quarter of this year reached $498.5 million, which is 70.4 percent more than a year earlier.
