BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 16. Kazakhstan’s revenue from passenger transportation via railways amounted to 11.8 billion tenge ($24.9 million) in August 2022, which is 52.1 percent more than in August 2021, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

The revenue was 64.6 billion tenge ($136.6 million) over the period from January through August 2022, which is 44 percent more in comparison to last year.

The number of transported passengers amounted to 13.1 million people over eight months of 2022, which is 32.6 percent more compared to the same period of last year (2.01 million passengers in August 2022, up by 22.5 percent).

The passenger turnover amounted to 11.1 billion passenger-kilometers (pkm) which compared to the same period of last year is an increase of 38.4 percent. August’s passenger turnover was 1.8 billion pkm (28.3 percent increase year-on-year).

Kazakhstan’s revenue from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway transportation amounted to 786.4 billion tenge ($1.6 billion) over the period from January through August 2022, which is 9.6 percent more than during the same period of 2021.

Revenues from the transportation of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage via railway in August 2022 amounted to 107.2 billion tenge ($226.7 million), which is 14.3-percent more in comparison to the same month of 2021.

The volume of cargo, luggage, and cargo luggage transported via railway during the reporting period amounted to 273.04 million tons, decreasing by 0.2 percent compared to the same period of last year (33.7 million tons in August 2022, down by 3.1 percent year-on-year).

Cargo turnover amounted to 206.1 billion ton-kilometers increasing by 5.4 percent compared to last year (25.7 billion in August 2022, which is 3.1 percent more than during the same period of 2021).
