BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 5. The volume of air passenger traffic in Kazakhstan, in 2022, is expected to amount to 10.8 million people for the first time, Trend reports, citing the Civil Aviation Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This would constitute an increase of 1.4 million compared to the 2021 figures.

The committee notes that Kazakhstan will pass the 10 million passenger threshold for the first time during the country’s independence.

The statement adds that from January through November 2022, the volume of passengers transported by air increased by 15 percent and reached 9.9 million people. In comparison, in 2021 9.4 million people utilized the services of various air travel companies.

Around 7 million passengers were transported by domestic flights, compared to 6.9 million in 2021, while 2.9 million flew out of the country, as opposed to 1.7 million a year prior.

The passenger traffic of Air Astana amounted to about 3.7 million, FlyArystan to 3.0 million, SCAT to 2.7 million, and 500,000 people traveled via Qazaq Air.
