BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 16. The cost of airplane tickets in Kazakhstan increased by 16.8 percent in 2022, Trend reports, citing Kazakh media.
The passengers in the West-Kazakhstan region have experienced the most significant increase, with prices skyrocketing by 67 percent. Prices in the Abai region increased by 57.3 percent, while an increase of 43.2 percent was registered in the Kostanay region.
The prices dropped only in Ulytau and Almaty regions by 20.8 and 3.9 percent respectively.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan transported around 11 million passengers in 2022, which is a 16.5 percent increase compared to 2021 results.
Around 7.4 million people used air transportation to and from Almaty city, an 11 percent increase compared to the year prior. Shymkent and Astana came second and third with 3 million and 562,500 passengers respectively.
