BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 15. The volume of operations carried out via the payment institutions operating in Kazakhstan reached 6 trillion Kazakh tenge ($12.92 billion) in 2022, Trend reports, citing the National Bank of Kazakhstan.
This constitutes a 1.7 increase compared to the 2021 results.
The number of transactions reached 597.3 million, increasing by 12 percent in the process.
The National Bank of Kazakhstan notes that currently there are 105 payment institutions operating in Kazakhstan, which is 11.4 percent more than in 2021. Some 15 percent of them are responsible for 87 percent of the total turnover.
Transactions initiated by mobile apps and via the Internet amounted to 3.11 trillion Kazakh tenge ($6.69 billion). This type of transaction enjoyed the dominant share of the overall transactions (251 million transactions).
The total number of operations involving cash reached 168.4 million, worth 1.98 trillion Kazakh tenge ($4.26 billion).
The National Bank is the central bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The objective of the institution is to ensure price stability in Kazakhstan, in addition to regulating fiscal and monetary policy.
