Kazakh FM held talks with the US Secretary of State

(KAZINFORM) - On July 6 the visiting Kazakhstan Foreign Affairs Minister Kassymzhomart Tokayev held talks with the US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Kazakhstan MFAs press service reports.

In the course of the meeting the parties deliberated upon the prospects for further widening of Kazakh-American relations and urgent regional cooperation and security issues, reports Trend.

Great attention was paid to preparations for an official visit of Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbayev to the US scheduled this autumn. Significance of the visit ahead evidences ever-growing strategic partnership of Kazakhstan and the US. Intense agenda of the meeting of the leaders predetermines strenuous work and close cooperation of interested structures of both states.

The sides exchanged views on a wide range of issues on regional stability and security. Kazakhstan and President Nursultan Nazarbayev personally are of great importance to the whole Central Asia, Condoleezza Rice stated, highlighting the countrys role in promotion of regional economic collaboration and confirmed the US invariable support to Astana integration efforts and within the realization of Trade and Investments Framework Agreement (TIFA) between Central Asian states and America too.

The parties shared the opinion on necessary involvement of Afghanistan into the processes of Central Asian integration for the country's valid economic rehabilitation and normalization. Tokayev confirmed Kazakhstans readiness to contribute to Afghanistans reconstruction in bilateral and multilateral formats.

American party highly appreciated Kazakhstan MFAs statement on North Korean missile tests and the countrys compelling stand to have nonproliferation regime strengthened.

In a conclusion Rice underlined Kazakhstan that achieved impressing success on the way towards political and socio-economic modernization under Nursultan Nazarbayevs guidance is the worthy partner of the United States in the international arena.

In his turn, Tokayev affirmed Kazakhstans adherence to further extension of strategic partnership with the US which is a weighty factor for regional stability and safety. Kazakhstan appreciates partnership with the US and intends to assume further measures for deepening of cooperation.

The very day Kazakh FM held meeting with the US Trade Representative Susan Schwab to discuss the progress of bilateral negotiations on Kazakhstans accession to the WTO. Kazakhstans entry into the WTO is one of the priorities of Trade Representatives Office and the US adheres to searching for mutually acceptable solution of the arising problems, Schwabd said.

Later Kassymzhomart Tokayev met with the representatives of the American business, scientific circles, mass media, and NGOs.
