15 infants suspected for AIDS in Kazakhstan

An emergency took place in South-Kazakhstan region. Trends special correspondent reports from Astana, 15 infants of age up to 18 months are VICH-infected, infection confirmed at 6 of them and at 9 it is doubted.

The commission is still unable to identify the source of infection and still suggests numerous use of subclavicular catheter for blood transfusion.

Mikhail Favorov, chairman of Central Asian office, CDC, said today in Astana that medical safety violation possibly resulted in VICH-infection of children in said region.

В"The serious campaign shall be lead for observing medical safety rules in all hospitals across the country", said Favorov.
