Russian, Kazakhstani atomic companies to create 2 JV

(Kazakhstan today) - A memorandum on establishment of two joint ventures as a part of the programme of strategic co-operation in production of nuclear fuel has been signed between JSC "NAC "Kazatomprom" (Kazakhstan) and OJSC "Techsnabexport" (Russia,) JSC "NAC "Kazatomprom" told Kazakhstan Today.

The first JV will be created on the territory of Kazakhstan for production of natural uranium to provide fuel for Russian design reactors. The second JV will be established on the territory of Russia for isotopic enrichment of uranium.

Assets for these projects after an analysis of their feasibility studies will be provided on parity bases. In particular, the assets for uranium production will be provided by the Kazakhstani side, the assets for uranium enrichment - by the Russian side.
