Minor earthquake registered in South Kazakhstan

(Kazakhstan today) - The strength of an earthquake that was perceived in South Kazakhstan was 5 grades on the Richter scale in the epicentre, the Ministry of Emergencies of Kyrgyzstan told Kazakhstan Today.

"The subsurface tremor was registered at 5.48 PM. The epicentre was in Ferghana ridge, 30 km South West of the Kyrgyz town of Toktogul. In the epicentre the strength was 5 grades," - the Ministry said. There have not been any casualties or damage to property, reports Trend.

The earthquake was perceived in Karakul - 4-5 grades, in Toktogul - 3-4 grades, and in Tashkumyr - 3 grades.

Residents of Taraz, Kazakhstan, perceived tremors with the strength of 2 degrees on the Richter scale.
