Delegation of Indian Trade Ministry will visit Almaty

(Kazinform) - Delegation of Commerce Department of Indian Trade Ministry will visit Almaty city on August 25-26. Under the auspices of the Gems and Jewellery

Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) members of the delegation will present collection of the best models of this branch; Kazinform refers to press service of Indian Embassy to Kazakhstan, reports Trend.

Purpose of this visit is to enhance direct mutually beneficial cooperation between business circles of India and Kazakhstan producing and marketing jewellery.

India is the largest exporter of gems and jewellery. In 2005-2006 export amounted to more than USD 16 billion. Besides, the country is one of the largest importers of raw material. Import of gold makes up 700 tonnes a year.

GJEPC is a noncommercial organization working under the auspices of Indian Government. It was established in 1996 and currently includes more than 7000 jewelers of the state. According to official data, about 20 million people of India work in this sphere.
