Director General of UNESCO to visit Kazakhstan officially

(Kazakhstan today) - Koitiro Matsuura, Director General of UNESCO, is going to visit Kazakhstan officially from 10 to 13 September, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, said at a traditional briefing in Astana, reports Trend.

"During the visit of Koitiro Matsuura, Director General of UNESCO, to Kazakhstan his meetings with the government are planned and a Memorandum on development of co-operation between the government of RK and the UNESCO will be signed," - Mr. Ashikbayev said that Mr. Matsuura also plans to participate in the second Congress of Leaders of World Religions in Astana on 12-14 September.

Also, according to Mr. Ashikbayev, Jacob Egbert Doek, Chairman of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child, will visit Kazakhstan September 7 on initiative of the NGO "For Protection of the Rights of the Child."

"To discuss protection of the rights of the child in our country the Chairman of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child plans to hold a number of meetings in several Ministries and other authorities," - he observed.
