European Union allocates grant for quality control in higher education of Kazakhstan

(gazeta.kz) - The European Union will allocate a grant for the implementation of a project of preparation and monitoring of a quality control system in the higher education of Kazakhstan. Byrganym Aitimova, Minister of Education and Science of RK, has stated this today, November 23, at a press conference in Astana.

"As a result of the project implementation Kazakhstan will receive recommendations of leading world experts on such issues as an increase of the higher education quality control, and preparation of Universities for international accreditation. The project is fully financed by the TACIS programme, its budget is around $650 thousand," - the Minister specified, reports Trend.

It is expected that as a result of the project implementation a new system of quality monitoring will be developed in the higher education of Kazakhstan. Besides, it is planned to establish a public independent authority for accreditation of Universities.

In general, according to Adrian van der Meer, EU ambassador - head of EC Mission in Kazakhstan, 22 projects have been implemented in education in Kazakhstan together with the EU since 1995, whose common budget totaled in 8.8 million euros. "Next year we are going to invest around 1 million euros into this area," - Mr. van der Meer said.
