Business delegation of Kazakhstan arouses interest at Davos forum

(www.gazeta.kz) - The work of the Kazakhstani business group at the Davos Forum aroused big interest of the international community, Yerzhan Ashikbayev, official spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, stated at a traditional briefing in Astana.

The 37th annual summit of the World Economic Summit took place January 24 - 28 in Davos, Switzerland. The subject of the forum is the "misplaced balance of forces". Such issues as the global warming, the Asian economic forum, the transformation of the Islamic community in South East Asia, the automation of the industry and the business development in the Internet, as well as the situation in Iraq and the Middle East, reports Trend.

2,400 from 20 world countries participated in the summit. The Kazakhstani delegation was headed by Vladimir Shkolnik, deputy head of the presidential administration of RK. Bahtikoja Izmuhambetov, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources of RK, and Zhanar Aitzhanova, deputy minister of industry and trade, made part of the delegation.

"Mr. Shkolnik, head of the Kazakhstani delegation participated in the activities of the business group on Kazakhstan that - aroused big interest of the international business community," - Mr. Ashikbayev said.

He explained that Mr. Shkolnik acquainted the session participants with basic provisions of the presidential strategy of accession to the world's 50 most competitive states, the implementation of the industrial-innovative policy of RK, measures to improve the legislation on investments, creation of the institutional and financial infrastructure necessary for the formation of the competitive climate.

Mr. Ashikbayev also observed that Mr. Izmuhambetov spoke during an energy part of the summit dedicated to the world energy development. "The schedule of the bilateral meetings of all members of the delegation was quite intense either, in particular, bilateral talks on Kazakhstan's accession to the WTO were held," - he added.
