"Kyrgyzstan is island of democracy in Central Asia and we are proud of it," President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Joao Soares said when meeting with the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Aitibai Tagaev on June 10, "24.kg" reported.
"Election of Kyrgyz president will become an important political event of the year. The Central Election Commission and the other organizations take all necessary measures to ensure free expression of our citizens' will," Aitibai Tagaev said.
President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly pointed that "Kyrgyzstan can be congratulated on its high democracy indices." Joao Soares has also supported Bishkek initiative of Kurmanbek Bakiev on formation of resident international platform for conferences on security and stability in Central Asia and in particular on peaceful handling of Afghanistan situation in Kyrgyzstan.
Joao Soares said that exactly Kyrgyz parliament could bring up the president's initiative for OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's discussion, "it would be useful and effective as for Kyrgyzstan so for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe."
