At least 50 Chernobyl veterans die in Kyrgyzstan annually, Kadyrbek Sasykulov, President of the Public Association of Invalids and Veterans Soyuz Chernobyl said at the press conference on Friday, June 12, "24.kg" reported.
There are about 1.5 thousand of Chernobyl cleanup veterans in the republic. "About 90 percent of them are physically challenged and diseased people," Sasykulov added.
According to the member of the association Alexander Ermanov, the main part of the veterans is incapable for work. "Chernobyl cleanup veterans like AIDS infected suffer from immune deficiency therefore we need special treatment. But it is very expensive nowadays, as you know," he added.
