European Union assigns €5 million for support of Kyrgyzstan's budget, news agency "24.kg" reported with reference to the EU office.
The funds are allocated for implementation of two programs - Sector policy support and Prevention of increase in food prices.
"This is already the third tranche which followed the two previous in June and December 2008 at €7.9 million. The total budget of the three year Sector policy support program makes up €25.5 million," the EU office said.
Sector policy support program provides for reforming of the social security system, in particular, distribution of social benefits, child protection, including establishment of regional family and child assistance departments.
As part of the Prevention of Increase in Food Prices program the Kyrgyz government should finance social benefits for the most vulnerable population.
