A conflict involving gunfire broke out between two frontier guards at the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan border, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s border guard said on Monday, Itar-Tass reported.

A conflict involving gunfire broke out between two frontier guards at the Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan border, the press service of Kyrgyzstan's border guard said on Monday, Itar-Tass reported.

One Kyrgyz soldier was injured.

A division of Kyrgyz border guard spotted Uzbekistan's counterparties in the territory of the Check Township. While the guards from the two bordering countries tried to discuss the situation, Uzbek civilians started throwing stones at Kyrgyz soldiers. All of a sudden Uzbek soldiers opened fire injuring a Kyrgyz soldier and took him to Uzbekistan's territory.

A special working group of Kyrgyzstan's state border service is investigating the accident and trying to negotiate the soldier's return.
