Protestors in Bishkek demand Kyrgyz special service chief’s dismissal

About 1,000 supporters of Ata-Zhurt party leader Kamchibek Tashiyev have gathered Sunday near the parliament building in Bishkek, where the president's office is located, Deutsche Welle reported.

The demonstrators are demanding the dismissal of the State National Security Service head Keneshbek Dushebayev, and an early announcement of the outcome of the October 10 parliamentary elections, Interfax reported.

Some of them told an Interfax correspondent that Dushebayev was behind the armed attack on the party leader's home on October 23.

The rally has brought together residents of Bishkek and representatives of southern Kyrgyzstan, to which Tashiyev belongs.

Protestors are carrying improvised posters in the Russian and Kyrgyz languages, reading, "Dushebayev Must Be Dismissed!" "Dushebayev a Shepard, not a Professional!" "Dushebayev Must Resign!"

They warned they would continue the rally until Dushebayev is dismissed.
