“Russia will grant Kyrgyzstan $8 million,” Valentin Vlasov, Extraodinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia in the Kyrgyz Republic, stated at the press-conference in 24.kg news agency.

"Russia will grant Kyrgyzstan $8 million," Valentin Vlasov, Extraodinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Russia in the Kyrgyz Republic, stated at the press-conference in 24.kg news agency.

According to him, $5 million will be allocated for UN programs. "Total amount of Russian humanitarian aid granted the country in spring-summer 2010 made up over $12 million. Besides, 20 thousand of tons of petroleum, oil and lubricants were given to the country as well as several thousands of tons of seeds," Valentin Vlasov noted. "Cooperation between Russia and UN has large-scale character. We have gone over to new stage in providing humanitarian aid."

"Russian allocated funds will be used for improving lives of the southerners. The World Health Organization will focus efforts on support of medical treatment facilities. In particular, it will purchase medical devices for emergency situations and render psychological aid to victims of the conflict. UNICEF will deal with water problems, sanitation and education. UNDP will deal with economic rehabilitation: around 300 businessmen will receive small grants and informational support. Part of money will be spent on papers recovery," Neal Walker, UN Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic, explained.
