Kyrgyz teachers will protest if wages not increased

If the government of Kyrgyzstan won't be able to increase wage for teachers from March 1 as it was said in their demand then they promise to rally, Elena Chernyshova, the head of Tokmak city committee, stated at the session of the Central Education Employee Union today, news agency "24.kg" reported.

She says that the three-level system of salaries and emoluments was worked out two years ago. "On 20 of January the Parliament decided to start payments via new system from March 1, 2011 but the government is still unable to make re-calculation. What composition should be in the Cabinet to make it work properly? Authorities have to start payments of the base part of the salary at least from March 1 and re-calculate other parts of the salary, compensatory and promotional, later. Authorities are unable to meet demands of teachers but we disagree with such approach to our problems," said Elena Chernyshova.
