Three people died from AIDS in Kyrgyzstan in July 2011, the country's Health Ministry said on Thursday.
According to the Republican "AIDS" Association, a total of 3,663 HIV infections cases were reported, and 392 AIDS cases registered in Kyrgyzstan as of Aug.1, 2011. Some 3,486 cases were Kyrgyz citizens, 2,563 were men, 923 women, and 2,278 were needle-injecting drug users.
Some 496 people of the registered HIV cases died; 177 deaths resulted from AIDS. Most HIV cases were recorded in the Chui region (1,025), Osh city (729), Osh region (665), Bishkek (529), Jalal-Abad region (367), Batken (57), Issyk Kul (56), Naryn (30), and Talas region (27).
