A voter attempted to cast several ballots into a ballot box in one of the polling stations in Bishkek, KyrTAG reports with reference to Taza Shailoo Association program coordinator Ernest Avtandil on Sunday.

"A voter attempted to cast several ballots into the ballot box in one of the polling stations in the Sverdlovsk district in Bishkek. However, this attempt was unsuccessful. All of the ballots were taken away, the act was drawn up," Avtandil said.

According to Avtandil, it is the only violation observed so far.

Meanwhile, the Coalition for Democracy and Civil Society also recorded casting of additional ballots at the district election commission No.2010.

In addition, according to the Coalition's first report, ballot boxes are not sealed at the district election commissions No.1048 and No.5117, in this regard an act has been drawn up, while the district election commission No.7024 recorded an attempt of revote, as a result of which an act was drawn up as well. District election commission No.7179 prevented an attempt to issue more than one ballot to one person.

Presidential elections started in Kyrgyzstan at 8:00 local time on Sunday.

Under the new Constitution, the President of Kyrgyzstan is elected for six years and only one term.

Some 2,289 polling stations, as well as 29 polling stations in 23 countries will operate to hold the presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan.

To date, the country registered a little over 3 million voters.

The elections are being observed by 792 international observers from 56 countries.
