FM: Kyrgyzstan closes its border with Kazakhstan without official notification
Kyrgyzstan has not officially notified Kazakhstan about closing its state border, KazTAG quotes the Kazakh Foreign Ministry's representative Altay Abibullayev as saying on Monday.
"Kyrgyz side informed media outlets about it (border closure - KazTAG), but officially, as established in the bilateral diplomatic relations, we have not received relevant information from them," Abibullayev said at a press briefing on Monday.
As KyrTAG reported earlier with reference to the Kyrgyz National Security Committee, in connection with the events in Taraz and given the possible attempts of criminals to hide in Kyrgyzstan, National Security Committee leadership decided to strengthen military protection of the state border, crossing regime at border checkpoints and enhance anti-terrorist operational-search measures. Interior Ministry, Defense Ministry, border troops and National Security Committee's territorial departments are orientated.
It should be recalled that 7 people, including 5 policemen were killed, another three policemen were wounded in Taraz in Zhambyl region when neutralizing a criminal.
