The EBRD (European Bank of Reconstruction and Development) will support the development of public transport in Bishkek, 24.kg reports.
A grant and credit agreement on $15.6 million finance assistance was undersigned by Kyrgyz Finance Minister Melis Mambetzhanov, EBRD Senior Officer Zhyldyz Galieva and the Mayor of Bishkek Isa Omurkulov.
The project is aimed to help in purchasing of 32 new low floor buses and 44 standard buses, partial rehabilitation of the infrastructure and transportation service quality improvement.
Total cost of the project is $15.6 million, including $10.1 million in loan and $5.5 million in grant.
Omurkulov said a system of electronic tickets will be implemented in municipal transport of Bishkek under the agreement.
In total, $450 million from the EBRD went to the expenses of different spheres of Kyrgyzstan's economy.
