Kyrgyz movement proposes to award Otunbayeva
The April 7 movement proposes to award Kyrgyzstan's President Roza Otunbayeva 'Kirghiz e Baatyr' award, Tynchtyk Toktogulov, a member of the movement, said in a news conference on Monday, KyrTAG reports.
"We believe Otunbayeva has earned the title of Kyrgyz people's hero, although a commission investigating events in the South came to a conclusion that the interim government has to some extent a fault in the Osh events. We regard this criticism groundless," Toktogulov said.
According to Toktogulov, Kyrgyz interim government headed by Otunbayeva has taken its utmost to stop the bloodshed and prevent inter-ethnic conflict to take more extensive form.
"Roza Isakovna contributed greatly to the development of democracy in Kyrgyzstan, supported parliamentary form of government and facilitated fair presidential elections. A new president inauguration scheduled to December 1. It will be a first peaceful transfer of power from one president to another during the 20 years of independence. And because of this Otunbayeva deserves to remain in the nation's history with a title of e-Kyr Baatyr," Toktogulov said.
