Kyrgyzstan is a priority country for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti said in Bishkek on Thursday at a meeting with the Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev, KirTAG reported with a reference to the head of state's press service.
"We are welcoming the on-going work on the freedom of the press and mass media, anti-corruption and creating conditions for those who want to work in Kyrgyzstan. We need to continue developing our cooperation, especially as the Kyrgyz Republic is a priority country for EBRD," Suma Chakrabarti said.
At the meeting the sides discussed issues of partnership between the Kyrgyz Republic and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.
"We appreciate our partnership and are grateful for the selection of projects in Kyrgyzstan. The EBRD is implementing projects in our country to improve the water supply of cities, as well as development of public transport," Atambayev said, stressing the important role of the EBRD is in the development of small and medium businesses Kyrgyzstan.
