Former head of Bishkek head office of the interior ministry, Melis Turganbayev has been appointed new Kyrgyz minister of internal affairs, RIA Novosti reported.

The president of Kyrgyzstan Almazbek Atambayev signed an appointment decree on October 3.

From 2010 to 2012 Turganbaev served as the First Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.

Previous minister Abdylda Suranchiev was taken off his post after disclosing the names of several deputies and government employees, which have ties to organized crime groups, according to the Interior Ministry's information.

The list in total includes over 20 names of members of rural, urban Councils and Kyrgyz parliament, representing the parties of ruling coalition as well.
