Minister of Justice of Kyrgyzstan Uran Akhmetov was released from office on April 3, the press service of the Kyrgyz president said in a message.

Akhmetov's resignation was accepted by President of Kyrgyzstan Sooronbay Jeenbekov.

Previously, the minister was repeatedly criticized in the parliament of the country, according to the Kyrgyz media. The last scandal erupted when Akhmetov was convicted of providing documents with errors. However, despite this, Akhmetov submitted his resignation at his own request.

Prior to assuming office, Akhmetov also worked as head of the judicial cooperation section of the legal department of the government apparatus, as well as an expert in the legal support department of the presidential administration of Kyrgyzstan.
