In Kyrgyzstan, mortality from cancer, cardiovascular insufficiency and traffic accidents is increasing, Minister of Health Kosmosbek Cholponbayev told at a round table on strengthening the role of the Public Health Service, Trend reports referring to kabar.kg.
In his opinion, all these causes of death depend on the person himself, on his choice of lifestyle.
“The main causes of these diseases are tobacco smoking, alcohol consumption, unbalanced nutrition and insufficient physical activity of the population. We are now trying to increase the excise tax on tobacco and alcohol. If we analyze the benefits to the state from sales of these products, we spend the same amount on health care. It turns out it moves from one pocket into another. In this regard, it is necessary to raise the level and quality of prevention of diseases among people by means of enhancing the level of Public Health,” Cholponbayev said.
